10 Months!

Cedric turned 10 months while we were in Kansas (photos coming soon) and I can't believe how big he is getting. Big and smart and coordinated!

We have been working on walking for awhile now and he is getting better at the one handed assist. He will stand on his own now but never for more than 60 seconds at a time. He will not walk unassisted, that is where he draws the line. If you try to let go while he is walking he will go to his hands and knees and complain. He will walk along the furniture but crawling is his preferred method of movement so far.

He has started waving (or at least I think that is what he is doing) and talking more. No real words but he will copy us a bit sometimes, which is exciting. He loves to copy raspberries, popping of the mouth, and banging hands on the table. It is exciting to communicate with him more, we've started working on hand signals to keep his frustration down in the future.

Cedric also loves Siena, who is learning to love him too. Her tolerance of his pulling and grabbing has increased, making for a less stressful environment. I think she has learned that his attention span is short, so if she puts up with being Cedric's punching bag for a few minutes then he will leave her alone for hours. She's a smart dog, I'm sure she has figured this out.

Cedric also went to his first aquarium, zoo, petting zoo and pool this month. Here are shots from the aquarium. He liked watching the colors and movement. He loved it so much we became members! Should be a nice place to beat the heat (or snow) this year.

We also started taking Cedric to parks this month. Mostly, this had to do with the nicer weather finally allowing for park use. There is a small play area on our Siena walk route that we like.

He really enjoys swings, though only for a few minutes at a time. Then he gets really quiet and I worry he might be getting dizzy. He likes to watch the ground while swinging, leaning as far forward as possible. (Side note: Notice the tounge twist in the photo on the right, he got that from me :) )

Cedric thinks he can walk the dog himself now and tries to grab her leash while in the stroller. I've let him hold on to it a few times and she actually stayed with him.

Bubbles are fun. I like blowing them and Cedric likes popping them. We are a great team. Here he is enjoying bubbles in the living room, something I do not suggest as they left a nice film all over our furniture and TV. Better keep the bubbles outside or in the bathroom.

Most of all, this month Cedric enjoyed getting into anything and everything. He likes to explore the new and different, like when I brought in a bag of dog food. He crawled over it and balanced on top of it for 15 min. Anything can be a toy for him, plastic kitchenware being his favorite. On our trip to Kansas I gave him a plastic Pepsi bottle with a pen in it and he played with it for days. We still have a melon baller from my mom that he loves to chew on. OH - speaking of chewing, we have the top two teeth! They started coming in right about the 17th and are now both fully broken through.

Keep growing little buddy! Everyone still thinks he is the cutest little baby, one man from the dog park, who is usually very stand-offish, asked yesterday "Is it just me or is that baby exceptionally cute?". Answer: Yes, I think he is!
